About the College |
Dyal Singh College was founded by one of the trusts set up by Sardar Dyal Singh
Majithia. Sardar Majithia was largely a self made man who bequeathed his wealth to set up two trusts
in 1898. Among Sardar Majithia's other achievements were founding the Tribune newspaper and being
one of the original founders of the Indian National Congress. Dyal Singh College started functioning as a constituent college of Delhi University in 1959. It was taken over by Delhi University as a University maintained college in 1978. |

Size, Infrastructure, Facilities |
Dyal Singh College is located on Lodhi Road, right in the middle of the city. The facilities available include 48 class rooms; 18 labs; an open air amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 1000; an auditorium with a seating capacity of 210 and a library with over 90,000 books. The college currently imparts education to about 3300 students and employs more than 200 faculty and 100 non- teaching staff members. The college plays host to 19 societies and clubs for student activities. |
