| About the College |
| Lady Irwin College is a women's only college that is well known for its courses
in Home Science and Nutrition. It is a constituent college of Delhi University. The college was
established in 1932 under the patronage of Lady Dorothy Irwin. The first director of the college was
Mrs Hannah Sen and at inception the college had just one course on offer- a one year certificate course
in Home Science. The college has grown manifold since then. It became a part of Delhi University in 1950 and currently offers education till the Doctoral level. |

| Lady Irwin College is housed in a campus that has been declared a heritage site.
The college building was designed by the famous architect Walter George and has recently been restored.
Many of the structures on the campus are more than 75 years old. The college has constantly upgraded its facilities and kept up with the times. The infrastructure includes well equipped laboratories, a library with over 45,000 books and hostel facilities for about 200 students. The current strength of the college stands at about 1100 students. |
